Contrary to belief you don't need confidence to be outgoing. If you are somewhat shy or intoverted than to be more outgoing is a good step to self-improvement. Now if you want to become more outgoing you can follow these simple steps:
- You can start with people you know. Make eye contact, small talk and ask questions with friends you're comfortable with.
- Smile at people. Make it an effort to smile at least one person a day, it can be anybody. The more you do it the more comfortable you will be and it'll seem more instinctive. Its really easy to smile at someone as soon as they walk into the same room as you or when you walk into a room because its simply a friendly greeting and it doesn't seem random.
- Find people who share the same interests as you. Join a club or a sport! Conversations are easier with people who share the same passions as you.
- Give a compliment, if you see something you like share it! Share your positive comments it makes you look like a friendly person and you might get some compliments back(:
- If you're shy and seem to avoid tasks such as phone calls or knocking on doors practice what you're going to say infront of a mirror after all, Practice makes perfect!
- Believe in yourself because what you have to say is valuable! Once you believe that it'll be easier to speak your mind
